Case in point: the Commander-in-Chief has decided to fire 20,000 of our U.S. Marines.

In an article published by San Diego, California’s North County Times, ironically on Thanksgiving Day, Military Affairs reporter Gretel C. Kovach cites;

“The Corps is shrinking by 20,000 Marines, to 182,100.”

The North County Times also cited that America’s premier fighting force is;

“scraping to repair or replace battle-worn equipment.”

Some of the first to go will be combat hardened Marines, Lieutenants, Majors and LtColonels

US to leave 10,000 troops in Afghanistan past 2014 (more like 30,000)

 

I told ya so Sports Fans. Just like during Iraq, I mentioned that we may be leaving, but we aint leaving. We may “reduce” troops in Afghanistan in 2014 but the Gov plans on us to be there for some time. How long, My bet is another 5years at least.  Hmmm perhaps some of these  fellas will still be there when I do combat deployment 6,7….8? Regardless whatever you thought was going to happen with us “leaving” in 2014, they fooled ya!

Did you really think we were simply going to go…”hey its 2014, well we got to go home”…Cmon, man! We will continue the “team building” there as mentors for along time.

Ho Ho Ho….wait it’s not Christmas just yet and Good Thing cause I got some Christmas ideas for ya to get your “guy” who isn’t a soft handed, pale skinned, unweathered, bit irritable fellow leading man. Too many times I’ve had received gifts that frankly carry a nice thought but hey let’s get real, a man knows what he wants (if he doesn’t I may have to email him directly) and we are simple creatures that rather just tell you what we can use and it’s not a tie….

Offensive photo taken at Arlington National Cemetery prompts Internet firestorm

Of course there have been many times when I heard the Gunny say “Hey Sir, watch this”. In case you didn’t know, nothing, nothing comes of any good affter you hear those words. Typically, Gy is talking about something totally different than what happened at Arlington. Sure the young lady might have bumped her head when she woke up and said “hey, watch this I’m going to give the bird to the Arlington cemetery”…..uh yea, that’s what happened.

Let’s just say she was flipping off the “request” that the sign is representing and not the actual cemetery (looking at giving her the benefit of doubt). Or perhaps she didn’t think at all and neglected the millions of warriors Arlington represents (including Presidents) either way; it’s yet another reflection of what America has become.  She isn’t a hooligan teenager; a thug, no she looks like she is middle class middle aged lady with a job, or at least had a job as a “case worker”. Great, let’s disrespect those that gave all so you can live free, never show gratitude, and badger those that have given you free speech….brilliant, good call. Let me know how that works out for ya.

Special Extra Earnings For Military Service -Pass onto those that served

Since 1957, if you had military service earnings for active duty (including active duty for training), you paid Social Security taxes on those earnings. Since 1988, inactive duty service in the Armed Forces reserves (such as weekend drills) has also been covered by Social Security.

Under certain circumstances, special extra earnings for your military service from 1957 through 2001 can be credited to your record for Social Security purposes. These extra earnings credits may help you qualify for Social Security or increase the amount of your Social Security benefit.

"We've already taken risk now" Your Marine Corps is laying off

The Commandant of the Marine Corps verbalizes his disconcert about the fast approaching defense budget cuts weakening your Marine Corps to bare bones numbers. Below he talks how dropping to a below par number of Marines will put security at risk and will prevent Marines from completing required missions. He holds his ground but the evident massive defense cuts can’t be stopped as the election is over and plans are set in place.  At least he is voicing that he disagrees with it.

Motto Monday from 1stBn 6th Marines

I’m a bit partial to the almighty 1/6 as that was the unit I first commanded in and took them to Afghanistan. The following video is a good one and will hopefully educate those that are unaware of all your Marines do. Yes, there may be a couple "F" bombs dropped during the video but they are used as nouns and verbs so its ok ........(the speech overlaid during the video is from a motto GySgt as the Marines were about to head into a crappy place to do the impossible with almost nothing, they succeeded brilliantly)
