Amazing, that it didn't explode when it hit, that his fellow soldiers got him prepped to go, the helo got him to Dr. Oh and they got the ordnance out of him.

Thank you for sharing and posting this amazing story. I have to say as a critical care nurse I have learned over the years that miracles do happen. When families look at me and wonder if their children will be o.k. I have learned to teach them to never give up hope that anything is possible. I say a quite prayer to myself and put my trust in Jesus Christ. Medicine can only go so far but I have seen faith really move moutains. God bless you Major Pain and all of the other soldier and veterans out there.

God Bless America! What an inspiring story. Makes me consider how great our country is and what great folks we have fighting for us on a day to day basis. Sacrificing for us so that we may worry about other important stuff like what we are going to watch on tv.

Simply the finest traditions of soldiers and physicians on display. I certainly hope those up the chain of command can properly recognize valor when they see it.

I am so proud and humbled to live in a country that produces near mythic heroes like this. The courage of every marine, soldier, airman, and sailor is mind blowing. Thank you all!! God Bless you all!!

I think Gen George Patton said it best "We should not mourn the death of such men, rather we should thank God that such men lived." To the soldiers, sailors, Marines, airmen and Coast Guardsmen, to the pilots and the ground pounders, to the doctors and corps men, thank you, just --- thank you.

Disputes John Kerrys assertion that people enlist because they can't do anything else. These men can do anything.

That medic is better at surgery than he is at faking tears.

As long as OUR MEN and WOMEN are fighting for the world to be free and standing with pride and courage in harms way I will fly our flag to show my pride for what they do for us and everyone else on this planet.
This is the courage that makes the United States Armed Forces the best in the world. And who gets call to protect the world?--- Our MEN and WOMEN in uniform.
God Bless them and protect them!!
And most importantly THANK YOU
