DALLAS - Frank Larison is a disabled veteran with more than 14 years of service, including more than a year of combat duty in Vietnam.
The 58-year-old former Marine now finds himself under attack by his Dallas homeowners association for displaying seven decals on his vehicle supporting the Marine Corps.
"To me, it's being patriotic, and it shows that I served," the veteran told FOX 4.
The board says the decals are advertisements that violate HOA rules, and must be covered or removed.
Otherwise, the homeowners association for The Woodlands II on The Creek --- where Larimore has lived for eight years --- says in a letter it will tow the car at Larimore's expense. The board also threatens to fine him $50 for any future incident.
Larimore says the decals, ranging from the Marine emblem to Semper Fi slogans, aren't advertisements for anything. "You can't buy freedom," he reasoned.
Some neighbors are outraged.
"That is his identity," said neighbor Mary Castagna. "He goes to a lot of the veteran meetings, and it means a lot to him. Everyone else agrees with it; it doesn't bother anybody."
"He's in the Marines, and he's proud of it, and I don't blame him," said neighbor Paul Hardy. "If I'd gone through what he's gone through, I'd be kind of proud of it myself."
The letter from the board states you can't have any form of advertisement anywhere on your car on your property. FOX 4 cameras spotted bumper stickers for political parties, health causes, and other non-commercial interests on the property as well.
One board member said he was unaware the HOA presidents sent the letter and did not know of any issue with Larimore's vehicle.
"I will be looking into it," said board member Art Bradford. "I didn't know anything about this. I haven't seen this."
The board president was out of town and unavailable. The condo management company did not want to comment.
First of all, it's Dallas, not quite as bad a Austin, but . . . I digress.
The follow up appears to be ---- TEXANs stood up and the lady got to put up a flag, and it sounds like the board president and the neighbors are going to take care of the board president and condo management company. So lay off the TEXAS slurs.

Maybe this Marine could find a lawyer (former Marine?) to sue his homeowners association. Bet he has some good first ammendment issues on his side.

Guess what those HOA fees will be used for next? The legal costs for defending the HOA against any possible lawsuit filed against them for this.

Another Texas embarassment is the long saga of the coward Michael New who got a BCD for refusing to serve in harms way in Macedonia back in 1995. He and his texas apologist Daniel new keep alive an effort to make a hero out of a coward. Truly hypocricy is the sole tribute that vice pays to virtue. Particularly in Texas the New story is a "dog that don't hunt"!I recently talked to the "real" hero of this story who was the soldier medic who "volunteered " to fill when the coward New refused to deploy into harms way. Hang your head in shame Michael New and Daniel should hang up his pen for his dribble is impotent and inconsequential.

If the HOA president solely targeted the military decals, then some form of discrimination, and/or censorship is manifested.

Chances are pretty good the tow truck driver will either be or know and respect a veteran.
He may "not be able to find" the car with the USMC stickers, but he might find lots of other cars with stickers offensive to the HOA rules and tow those cars instead. Maybe the lead pissant has an Obummer sticker on his car.
Do you think they'll change the rules when the mommy mobiles and Volvos get towed and all those mommies start making phone calls and threatening to sue?
I know I'm not the only one, but
I really hate pissants who think they're more important and more powerful than they really are.
Most of them will jump if you say "Boo!" and lots of them will cry if you get in their faces.
It is important to remember not to touch and not to make any threats of violence. Self defense is, of course, permitted after the pissant takes the first swing, but don't go too ape on them in response to one little hit. Why wear yourself out if you don't need to? No sense breaking a sweat.
