A mile of American flags honor fallen Matagorda soldier

MATAGORDA, Texas – A 20 mile procession, carrying 100 American flags, began in Bay City and went all the way to a rural home in Matagorda.  It was to honor a father, a son, and a brother who was killed in Iraq.

Surge in Afghanistan Unlikely to Surpass 30,000, Mullen Says

FORT DRUM, N.Y., Feb. 9, 2009 – The top U.S. military officer said today he doesn't expect the United States to deploy more than about 30,000 additional troops to Afghanistan, emphasizing the need for the State Department and other U.S. agencies to do their part as well.

KABUL, Afghanistan (Jan. 21, 2009) – Members of the provincial reconstruction team in Afghanistan’s Nuristan province visited Zirat village this month to assess the effectiveness of completed projects and to develop ideas for future initiatives.
