Hot stuff, Major! But you and your Marines are still cool!

anon

But is it a dry heat? (lol)

anon

Is it true that the Iraqis have 1000 different words to describe different qualities of heat?

Miss Em

In 1970/71 I lived in Las Vegas--NO AC. usually daily temp was 120 in the shade if you had any. "It's HOT! You don't understand" -- oh YES I DO.

What got me was all the stuff that's in the dirt.
'Fly larva in the Marines' eyes and sand fleas crappin eggs in Marines' ears' -- UGH!! That's something that NO-body has told any of us back here.

'Sand Box' -- should be called
'Infested Hell'

U No

Ice..........man

Martha

OH my gosh! We here are so spoiled aren't we?

I live in Georgia and in the woods. We have ticks almost at our front door. But we are so spoiled! I have 5 cats and 99 lb black Lab. From time to time we have to spray for fleas in spite of the meds we use on them. But we are so spoiled.

I can get in my shower and clean it all off and get between clean sheets with my former Marine hubby. I am so spoiled!

Thank you so much Major Pain! You guys are the best!

Kath

So this is EXACTLY what it means when my guy says, "YES! it is hot today, did you send drink mix?"

Cat

Oh, Maj Pain!
Up here in WA state, after an unusually cold Winter/Spring (only 12 days of spring reached 70+), 80 feels almost unbearably hot. I'm not kidding! temps reach 80, and people will be lounging about too hot to do anything. What's really goofy is the WAians who buy AC units for their homes... It doesn't get that hot here, dufus! hehe. Keep it up, my cool-as-ice Marines.

Sammy D

But Cat, it's a wet heat!!!!!!!

LL

as I have my head cocked to the side and think I look like Ricky Bobbie from Talladega Nights, screaming “Help me Tom Cruise, I’m on fire” arms flaying around and dogs just sitting looking at me saying “He bad white meat, don’t eat him, you’ll die”.

You slay me, dude.

Pincher

Only one word.... Priceless!

Thanks Pincher. If we are priceless you are One of a kind yourself-A tru "Troop Suporter" Gang-Maj Pain

OK, For The Love Of GD"
Shouldn't All Our Marines Be Issued the " COOLING VESTS " I see listed up at EBAY ????

RangersGirlDC

It sounds HORRIBLE. Hang in there. I can't say much more than that because I DON'T have clue about how hot it is.

Dave

It's 117, 100 pounds of gear on, riding around in a machine with the leg room of a '71 Beetle, the windows rolled up and no A/C, blowing sand and fleas that lay eggs in your ears. Sounds like a 4th of July picnic at Fort Bliss Texas! Marines always get to go to fun places and do cool stuff. We're praying y'all get some cloud cover every once in a while. I am thankful we have you guys! None better in the world!

MissBirdlegs in AL

I just hate those sweat drips going where they shouldn't! ;-) It's hot here, but it doesn't compare. You guys are the best (and probably the dirtiest!). You're all appreciated.

Good post, even though it made me sweat...

Cat

nah, it's not a wet heat, really. Sometimes it is, but mostly not. It's the East Coasters who suffer from wet heat. :)

Kelli

This just makes me love and respect y'all all the more, G.
Oh, and the sweat going in places it shouldn't thing-sounds like last week when we were in Savannah. I can sympathize with that TOTALLY.
Stay strong and I'm praying for some cloudy days for y'all!

Susie

Major P, I don't know how y'all do it. But you do, and you do it well. As a matter of fact, y'all KICK ASS!

I am so grateful for our Marines' innate ability to do the best job possible under the worst of circumstances. You are proof that America IS blessed.

Thank you!

I'll have to remember to send you some snow when we get some. I can't even imagine that kind of heat! I live in alaska!

In our eyes You all "Walk On Water!!!"

Thank you!!!

Grimmy

Hang in there Marine. Just remember, no matter how bad it is, it can get worse and probably will.

You know how the Corps works. Just as y'all get the desert thing all figured out, they'll ship you off to a jungle or some such.

Semper Fi
Happy Independence day.

American Infidel

Thank you for all you do and endure for us. I can't imagine that heat especially in full gear.

I truly am thankful for you all. Because of you all and those before you - I celebrated our Independence Day yesterday. 232 years of Independence and Liberty.

Thank you Marine, Thank you.

Mom2corps

More Gatorade heading your way, Sir. Should I send some treats for the dogs so they won't try to eat you?
I agree with David M who said "you walk on water".
