I was going to update on the high temps, sand flea bites and tics but below is a much more simpler post. All is good-Semper
We are Marines. Many people don’t understand what we do as Marines nor do they really want to know. Many people are just thankful that we are out there. The force between them and evil. They are quick to chastise us or point out the rare occasions when we drift, however, they beg for us to go stand between them and fear. In the very recent past, we have lost two Marines from our unit, the first of this deployment, many of the last few deployments. They are warriors, school teachers and sons. They wanted to make a difference and they did. Now that we have grieve and have held a memorial, we put our helmets back on, push outside the wire and continue to keep the wolf at bay. Why you ask? Because we are Marines.
God Bless them both and their families-Semper Fi

Thank you for telling us.
Please stay safe. You are all thought of.

Warriors to guard the walls
Warriors who hear the first cries of pain

Thank you for being there for us all.

From the timing and location I have suspected that you were serving with the same unit as my son but I think this incident confirms it. My son is one of your Texas marines. I spoke with my son this weekend, he was friends with one the fallen marines from your time in California. He denied it by I could tell it has affected him, as it has affected me. We are all heart broken and my deepest sympathies go out to their families.
Get the job done, keep them safe and bring our boys back. You are in our prayers.

Semper Fi MP. God Bless America. I wish I could help. The sidelines suck, even knowing that being in the thick of things would suck worse.

Ooh Rah! Having served during the "Cold War" (9/85 ~ 7/93) I can tell you first hand that this esprit de corps does not wain.
In the corporate world, 2 kids and there is not a day that I don't reflect on my time in the Corps. Every now and then I let a bit of those memories out into my own Blog and it feels good.
It feels good to see the blogs of those who followed my father and myself upholding the values and tradition of the Marines.
