Wow...MP... Didn't need that today...it's a gray one here...God Bless Sgt. Cauthorn, his family and all lives he touched.

Don

Major,

The pain is too great to bear when I read these. But to honor them, their sacrifice, and their families, I do.

Here another Dad, another best friend, has lost his best friend, his son.

A father of a KIA Marine recently said, "One thing I have learned: Have more than one friend." He was saying his son was his only friend.

I used to think it was a blessing being a Marine whose son also decided to wear the EGA. Now I think its a curse. I, and others like me, know too much. And we don't like to see our best friends in danger.

Semper Fi, Major.

Dad of LCpl Brent (Remember him? Off to OCS in 6 weeks. He took your advice. Never give up!)

Its tough to lose your bestfriend. To try and imagine Mr. Cauthorn's pain is tough enough. No one is here to pick me up off the floor so I'll have to be brave, too.
Don, thank your son for his service from me.

Dear Major Pain:

Thank you for posting these stories. While they are heartwrenching, it reminds me of how blessed we are as a nation to have such men (and women)who serve us, yes serve us. It's also overwhelming to think about at times. Thank you.
