Spencer, you poor little thing! You are so correct that those big bad police should not have picked on you!! They should have gone to your house and arrested your parents for letting their stupid little kid out from under their rock! You should at least graduate from third grade before you think you can participate in a freedom of speech event. I do appreciate you letting us hear your viewpoint from the front however. Of course, it would be more valid if you had a point. Lets hear from you after you do your time in the military earning your right to have a point. Let us know when you get past that third grade...

Sgt. Taylor B's mom

Please, anyone that reads whatever it was that Spencer was trying to say, this is not our youth of today. My little Sarge is a fine example of that. I have a young one that sets forth what doing the right thing really means, and guess what? She is 13, can spell correctly, doesn't swear, she LOVES her country, she RESPECTS her country and the freedoms given to her, she RESPECTS authority, and she does many a thing, not to see what she can get out of it, but to do so because it IS the right thing to do.
She has involved many of her school mates to do the same, she has inspired many ADULTS to do the same. Spencer, when you can write a sentence that makes an ounce of sense, then you may come back and try to make a valid point. Keep up how you are and your future is looking as dimwitted as what you just made yourself out to be.

I don't get the media, I sat here glued to the TV yesterday just waiting to catch a glimpse, any glimpse of American's finally standing up and saying WE SUPPORT. Guess what? On all news outlets, I saw them do blurbs of the protestors, I heard them talk about an anti war rally, but I didn't see much in the way of the 'other side' I didn't hear them talk about the outnumbering of American Patriots that were there. I did however on I think it was FOX, interview ONE person there doing the right thing and he got all of 10 seconds. The next person they talked to, was in the Navy and opposed to the war, he got to talk on forever and ever. You would think, that finally the news would HAVE to show there are 2 sides. You would think with the anti protestors being so vastly outnumbered, they would HAVE to make mention, AT LEAST MENTION, that there were those there that support our troops, that support taking a stand in bettering the WORLD (not just America) I guess it is to positive of a thing huh?

Janet

Major

Thanks for your great posting. I wasn't home most of the day but searched the major news sites looking to see what happened. Very typical coverage. Only pictures of the morons and the same story shared by the media. Once the print photos come out about the story, I think there will be even more concrete proof of the bias. We're having to depend on the milbloggers like you Taco, and Gunnutt for the truth. Thanks for all you do.

gypsy

Well done G! I'm not surprised that all of you and GOE didn't get the coverage we'd have liked, but thanks to you and other bloggers at least we got some good AAR. Should push for some interviews with Fox at the least. LOVE the picture at the top of your post!

BZ to all that were there standing tall!

Semper Gratus!

Donna, Los Osos, CA

Mental picture of you breaking the sign.... priceless!

GunnNutt

Great post, Maj! The sea of leather-clad veterans was truly a sight to behold. Those guys (and you, of course) were angry and let the little punks and 60's hangovers know that they were finally outnumbered!

It was a GREAT DAY!

linda s.

I, too, looked for coverage but barely saw any for the eagles. I saw a group with flags and knew that was the good guys! Thanks to all who went and represented! And thanks, Maj P, for breaking that sign in front of the anti-American--wish you had a picture of that! ;)

KeesKennis

Please defeat this leftist shit, please frakk us, movement from your midst.
My life as well as yours depend on it.

Karen I.

Terrific post, Major!

LL

Saw your pic on Michelle Malkin. Looks like you were having lots of fun.

Missy

Major:

Thank you for the detailed report. Like all the others, I searched the online, print and television media for reporting - there was very little, and mostly screwed towards Spencer and his crowd.

Please resist the urge to pull his response as I think it is a good representation of the "quality" of folks that participate in those things. I found it interesting that throughout the diatribe, Spencer never spoke of any ideology or convictions he/she may or may not have - just there for the fun! Wow.

ysip

I guess it's no coincidence that most of the protesters signs are yellow?

Freebird

Just because we don't support the war does not mean we are Anti-American. I just don't support the fact that my great-grandchildren will have to pay for it. Add to it that our economy can't handle the strain of the debt, we as a nation have gathered.

http://theroadtothehorizon.blogspot.com/2006/03/news-round-up-war-in-iraq-happy.html

Kelli

G, I can just see you now breaking that sign...I am lovin' that mental picture! :) I wish so much that I could have been there-but I am very proud that so many turned out to protect our monuments and show support for our military men and women. Great job on the reporting!!! I can always count on you for the REAL story.

Navy Wife

As usual, Major Pain, you are one fantastic Marine!! What a day!!!

This is primarily for "Spencer." I do not believe you were even present. I believe you made up everything you wrote. Why do I say this? Because I was there and saw all the police coming back from the Pentagon as we were walking across the bridge towards the Arlington Cemetery Metro Station. We actually waved at them, and thanked them. They smiled back.

Our little Spencer didn't realize that if he was on the bridge before the march, and was told to move, it's because no one was allowed there. And, if he was on the hill by the Lincoln Memorial, that was the area where the GOE had their permit, and I wouldn't doubt if the police made him move on!

It was a wonderful sight to behold when I saw the thousands of Veterans lining that parade route. I also found it interesting that the lunatic fringe, including the mythical Spencer, were only two lanes abrest and half way through, it was down to one lane. So, the turnout was really poor on their side.

haha

FRIST!

A PROUD Texan

I am so proud of all of you for protecting the Wall of Honor! They have done their time in Hell. May we NEVER allow that to occur in this country again. If y'all have a problem with the war.. go spit on a politician. But, by jiminy.. you BEST NOT turn your head towards one of our brave soldiers. EVER! I want MY country back! This PC b.s. is killing this country. Enough is enough. My AMERICAN flag CONTINUES to fly high from our house! If you want to march to end the war.. load up a boat or plane and go to Iraq and scream your head off!

Thank you for posting this wonderful blog!!

VegasDe

Thanks for update. I caught all of about two seconds on CNN of the protest...that's about all I could stomach...all they could talk about was the variety of protesters and of course nothing about the great men and women that seems to have greatly out numbered them. I would like to thank all of you for being there when I could not, hopefully one day I'll be able to get out there to stand up and speak up for myself.

Rafi

Great Job, Eagles,
Thanks for your service

jim b

Outstanding!

A great day and I hope it showed MoveOn.Crapheads, ANSWER, and George S, that they have managed to help organize and motivate serious Americans who paid their own way to tell them ... the crap stops here.

Thanks to all of you and the Viet Vets who said ... No MoFo you ain't treating our kids the way you treated us.

How I wish I could have been there!! GREAT JOB GREAT POST

Barb

Great job, Maj Pain! Wish I could have been there, but the mental image of you breaking the sign will keep me grinning all day long :-)

defendusa

Yes, Indeed!! Though an Army veteran, with many Marine friends-I can hear the word shit stick and have a great mental picture as well. Spew alert...I was having s cuppa joe! Eagles up! It was a great day!

gar

first: spencer larn hou tu spail! pleez?

second: freebird, yes actually, if you don't support the war on terror, you are in fact anti-american.
best bet - find another country to live in before the revolution, after it happens you will NOT be safe here.

Cheryl

Great post, as usual Major. Saturday was a great day for patriots. I pray that we are able to take our country back from those who are doing their damndest to destroy her. As with everyone else, I enjoyed hearing your recounting of breaking the sign over your knee!!! That's the Major Pain we all know and love!

Gail Poesy

Simply said...I'm very proud of you.

Haaaaaaaaaa! This just in:

Study Finds One-Third in D.C. Illiterate

Mar 19 11:50 AM US/Eastern

WASHINGTON (AP) - About one-third of the people living in the national's capital are functionally illiterate, compared with about one-fifth nationally, according to a report on the District of Columbia.

Adults are considered functionally illiterate if they have trouble doing such things as comprehending bus schedules, reading maps and filling out job applications.

The study by the State Education Agency, a quasi-governmental office created by the U.S. Department of Education to distribute federal funds for literacy services, was ordered by Mayor Anthony A. Williams in 2003 as part of his four-year, $4 million adult literacy initiative.

The growing number of Hispanic and Ethiopian immigrants who aren't proficient in English contributed to the city's high functional illiteracy level, which translated to 170,000 people, said Connie Spinner, director of the State Education Agency. The report says the district's functional illiteracy rate is 36 percent and the nation's 21 percent.

Adults age 65 and older had the lowest literacy score of any group, the report found.

The District of Columbia Chamber of Commerce, which contributed to the report, said the city lost up to $107 million in taxes annually between 2000 and 2005 because of a lack of qualified job applicants.

So now I know for sure where Spencer lives.

Tricia Miller

Dear Major Bourland, my hero!
This post was incredibly revealing! Those who oppose the war on terror, and the military in general, don't know what they STAND for, or are able to, as in Spencer's case, write a complete, coherent sentence, void of expletives. Did he even graduate from Jr. High, let alone High School? A few years in the Marines would do him a world of good, and just maybe he would begin to understand what makes this country great and special.

big bro jim i

Tricia,
Don't let that MORON spenser get to you ,there is always a few a/holes out there.Besides its gets to be kind of fun trying to decode what they are trying to write.
Don't worry honey , ther are more of us than them.

ysip

How many of you started reading the ranting obscenity laced post, decided not to waste your time and scrolled on to better things without finishing it lol? That's how it is for the protesters... no one is listening and that's why they are having tantrums.

God bless America and the courageous troops who stand between all of us and the terrorists. Too bad the protesters don't understand that.

Bill

No one had any intention of defacing the Vietnam Veteran's memorial. No anti-war organization or individual even hinted at it. In over twenty years of anti-war protests in DC no protestor has ever messed with it. So why put out this bullshit lie that protestors were planning to deface it. To fool Veterans in attending a pro-George Bush/Dick Cheney rally. Has everyone in America so turned against this administration that the right needs to make up lies to get people to turn out. There are veterans that support this war; there are veterans who oppose it. This wasn't a "pro-troop" rally; it was a pro-George Bush rally. That's your right of course but be honest.

Leta

Bill, what drug are you on? Were you there? Did you see some of the home made "weapons" these people were carring (such as the cut out garbage barrels), did you hear what they were chanting, yelling and screaming? Think what you like - definitely your right but this was far from a George Bush/Dick Cheney rally. As a matter of fact I honestly never heard one person from the RIGHT side mention either of their names the entire weekend (WRAMC Friday night/Mall Saturday). This counter protest rally was in support of our troops (past and present) and their missions. Yes, there was mention of the national monuments potentially being defaced by those "peaceful" nerds just as they did to the capitol building in February but this was about so much more than that. I doubt you've gotten emails from deployed troops telling you how proud they are of you and the lefties. I've gotten several and every one touches me and make me PROUD to be on their team. Damn shame - real damn shame bozos like you don't get it but get to reap the freedoms our military provides and secures for us. Give it a rest Bill if you can't live in reality. Go troll somewhere else.

Agnieszka O.

Thanks for being there! Great job.

GunnNutt

Bill - the only connection George Bush had to this rally is his position as Commander in Chief of the Armed Services. To that end, the troop supporters include him in that support.

Every veteran I talked to on Saturday was there to support the men and women who are currently serving in the military. They want this generation of warriors to get the respect that was so woefully lacking 40 years ago. All of them were determined to make their presence a statement of intent to protect the honor of being a Veteran and a Warrior for this greatest Nation on Earth!

BTW, how dare you question our truthfulness?!? Just for that, I'm calling you unpatriotic! 'tard.

Sammy D

We came; we protected; we honored. It's the American Way.

Bill

Once again where is the evidence that protestors where planning to "attack" the memorial? Its never ever happened, and there have been protestors coming to DC for a long time. Unlike some, I actually like some evidence that back up my assertions. Like Sadaam Huseein had WMDs and was hooked up with Al Qaeda. If you are so concerned about veterans why weren't any of you at Walter Reed where wounded troops are being stuck in ratholes? I support the troops too, which is why I think its time to come home. Bush lied and mislead us about this war and dosen't help our country one bit. Supporting troops dosen't mean backing whatever any politician says who are the ones who order our troops to war. GOE and MAF aren't real veterans groups but a front for Bushies. America is with us when they want our soilders to come home from this disaster.

Sgt. Taylor B's mom

Thanks for the giggles Bill!!!!

Bill

As much as I try to find people who have permantly shut down their brain funny and will believe anything they are told, there are just too many of you wrecking our country to get a giggle. The Founding Fathers wouldn't find it funny either I don't think.

linda s.

GN, I like your attitude! :)

linda s.

Bill, look who's beleieving everything the biased msm tells tham! Get a clue and unlock your brain!

Sgt Taylor B's mom

Now I have moved from giggles to chuckles. Imagine, standing behind your troops is ruining the country.....go figure.

Navy Wife

This is to Bill. Sir, when have YOU been to Walter Reed Hospital? I'll bet the answer is "never." It is not easy to get in to see the soldiers--I have tried. However, I have done whatever I could to support them by sending care packages through AnyMarine.com and writing letters through Soldier's Angels. Have you done anything like that? I'll bet not.

I was there at Walter Reed this past Friday night (with others who post here) just as I have been every Friday that I can make it. Sometimes, it is so bitter cold that I have no feeling in my hands and feet, but when I see the smiles on the faces of the wounded soldiers peering out into the night to see all of us wildly cheering them on, I know it was worth the misery.

As for the "proof" you asked for. Just look at what some of your compatriots did to the Capital steps. I, personally, put two and two together and it added up to TROUBLE when I heard that Answer and Code Pink were gathering at the Vietnam Memorial. I didn't have to have any further "proof" that if my husband and I were not there along with any other vets who wanted to come out, the chances were pretty strong that the same type of stunt would happen again.

As you have been told, this was NOT a Bush rally, it was a pro-troop rally ONLY. I have never been so proud of our vets in my life. They were young, old, active duty and retired. They were awesome and I was glad I was there to lend them my support as my husband served two tours in Vietnam.

It is obvious you do not have a high respect for our men and women in the service, but I'll bet you would be the first to scream for them to save you if you are ever under attack in this country. Gee whiz, maybe they'll just tell you to go protect yourself--if you know how.

Sorry to vent, but your kind of "support the troops" doesn't cut it with me.

Leta

Ah Bill - I was at Walter Reed and the Mologne House on Friday as a matter of fact. While I don't live in the DC area this was not the first time I have spent MY money to travel to Washington JUST to go to WRAMC and the Mologne House. Additionally I often ship items the Wounded Warriors have asked for to people in the DC area to be delivered to WRAMC since we cannot ship direct there anymore. NEXT QUESTION????

Oh, when was the last time YOU were at WRAMC? Just curious.

Anita

Bill I am in contact with troops in both Iraq & Afgh. and believe me they appreciate our kind of support for the troops, not the protesters. You guys really rile them up. It seems to me you guys are way more into Bush Bashing then just wanting the troops home. Of course we would all love for them to be home, as the troops themselves do, but not before they have accomplished their mission. They say that repeatedly, but you and your buds don't want to hear that. The troops feel you are making their job much more dangerous and prolonged as it just encourages the terrorists, who know exactly how to use the media and except for Fox most of the media is only too happy to oblige them.

GunnNutt

Bill, I too hang out at WRAMC on a regular basis and have many wonderful memories of current and past wounded warriors who have received miraculous care there. For you and anyone else who believes the MSM crap printed about WR - IT IS THE VERY BEST MILITARY HOSPITAL because of the professionalism and tireless care of the physicians and nursing staff. There are no "rat holes" into which any wounded warrior is "stuck".

Try getting YOUR facts straight before posting.

Navy Wife - YOU SAID IT, LADY! We had a lot of fun.

Maj Pain

Billy-
Look here at this post (proof) from your communist shit stain bloggers. They say to "bring paint to spray on the wall" (http://www.onemarinesview.com/one_marines_view/2007/03/eagles.html) Here is where the spew originated from. http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-bloggers/1796457/posts?page=2#2. AND since you have my attention, I was hit with mortar rounds with poisonous gas in Ramadi, Iraq 2005 (You think there were no WMD??). So for you to continue to allow unreferenced vomit to come out of your mouth, make sure you have done your homework before you point your finger.
I also was at Walter Reed last Friday night in the falling snow (didn’t see billy anywhere) and we frequently are there to assist the wounded warriors when you haven’t even been there once but again, point your finger, perhaps at yourself for once. For you to come to this blog and not have you’re your shit in one bag is a mistake-Typical anti troop personality!!

Sgt Taylor B's mom

Well, my chuckles have left and in place is a proud smile. OOH RAH Major B and to the rest of you glorious supporters!

sue

Looks like Billy and Spencer took a little buck shot to the butt from Major Pain. Guess we shouldn't be seeing them here again soon. OooRah Major!

texasdillo

Great post Major. Time for some humor. I remember you talking about mortar rounds falling when you would head for the john. I was talking to this Army Veteran the other day and he told of a buddy being in the port-a-can when it took a mortar round. Blew the thing over. The guy was some shook up, but he was not harmed. Now the funny part is that they put a brand new port-a-can in the exact same spot.

Teabag

Haha! I do believe Billy boy has punked himself.

To Maj. Pain and the others who were able to be physically present to support our armed forces when I was unable, thank you!

I sponsor soldiers and send care packages, but that isn't the same as a physical presence at events such as this. So I tip my hat in gratitude to ya for doing what I was unable to do - just as our armed forces do for me 'round the clock.

I'm forever in your, and their, debt.

Bill

Some idiot spewing crap on the Free Republic blog dosen't count as a real threat. It could very well been a right-wing provacture trying to get fools like you riled up.

I guess the Washington Post is such a commie paper in your view that it just made all that stuff up about Walter Reed. I think if George Bush and Fox News told you the sky was green you would scream and huff and puff that anyone who said the sky was blue was a traitor.

We are a Republic. That means there are different opinions Americans can express. Sometimes America has gone to war for good reasons with good leadership. Sometimes it hasn't. We are not infaliable. The Founding Fathers were an amazing bunch of folks not because they were god-like and perfect and thought that our government could never do wrong but because they gave a way to change course peacefully when our leaders took us astray. You have my opinion, you have yours and I will use my ability to change our government to get us out of this war.

Support the Iraq war and George Bush all you like. Its your right and I defend it. But when you scream that any one who disagrees with you is a traitor you are corroding our democratic system. Are John Murtha and Jim Webb rotten commie traitors too?

The problem with Vietnam was that politicians knew it was unwinnable. They just didn't want to be called "traitors" and "soft". We could have saved a lot of our soilders if Johnson had showed more courage and just got out earlier.

Bill

The major wrote (You think there were no WMD??).

So you think there is still WMD's in Iraq. Do you belive in UFOs and Santa Clause too? Hey I got a bridge to sell you in Brooklyn pal.

Anita

Bill, the Vietnam war wasn't lost by the troops, it was lost in the media and political world that didn't let the troops fight to win.
Same as now, you can't be PC and win a war against people with no compunctions on who and how they kill.

I'll keep listening to how the troops feel that are actually there or have been there, and yes many of them, especially the Marines, feel Murtha is a traitor.

Sgt Taylor B's mom
texasdillo

Bill you left one rotten commie bastard out. John Kerry.

Navy wife

OK Bill. You haven't answered my question-- what exactly have you done to support our troops? Name it.

Bill

"Bill, the Vietnam war wasn't lost by the troops, it was lost in the media and political world that didn't let the troops fight to win."

Bullshit Antia, total bullshit. The NLF was a seasoned guerilla army that that large segments of popular support. The French couldn't beat them and we couldn't either unless you suggest that we dropped a nuclear bomb and wipe out most Vietnamese. Name one way America could have "won" in Vietnam. We shouldn't been there in the first place. Just how did the media "hold back" America in Vietnam. By admiting publicly that we weren't winning anymore. By mentioning that we were illegally bombing Cambodia and Laos. Do you think politicians should do whatever they want without anyone crticizing them, I can find some country's where the media gave nothing but glowing reports of the nation's military action even when they were losing. Russians never heard a bad thing about their troops in Afghanistan and the they still lost.

I'm supporting our troops(besides sending care packages to my cousin in Afghanistan) by backing candidates who support more money for veterans and troops and wants us to get out of Iraq. No more waste of lives.

If that is all your Marine buddies can do is to call anyone who critizes Bush a traitor then go move to another country. How about North Korea, they shoot people who criticize their rulers. You guys can't handle real American freedom.

bill

http://www.military.com/NewsContent/0,13319,129059,00.html?ESRC=dod.nl

Would this qualify as WMD???"

Look knuckle head, when Bush was talking about WMD's he claimed that Hussein had nuclear weapons. You know the kind that can kill millions of people with one blast. Any idiot can eaily make chorline gas, and if you look at the body count of this particular attach it hardly counts as "mass destruction." I'm sorry but the Presiddet can't just make shit up just for an excuse to go to war.

texasdillo

The war in Vietnam was lost by the protestors, negative newsies, and a Democtat Congress that defunded the war effort. The leadership of North Vietnam was ready to sue for peace as they saw they were loosing. They readily admit today that they were loosing. We did not loose in Vietnam. The crats just made us leave. Fast forward 30 years and another crat controlled Congress is going to loose another War. But unlike Vietnam where they just wanted us gone, the Jihadist wish us all dead and our way of life exterminated. Coming to a Mall near you-Jihad!

Elvis in Iraq

Hey Maj Pain,
Great job last weekend and to the boy wonder who wrote the first post, all I can say is "Do you kiss your Momma with that mouth?"
What a loser.
Semper Fi,
Taco

Sgt Taylor B's mom

Oh, I am a knuckle head now? Well let me do my very best Curly shuffle for you......

Glad to read you think that it is OK to harm hundreds of people at a time with one bomb, let alone children. But as long as it wasn't millions, Bill says it is OK.

bill

"Glad to read you think that it is OK to harm hundreds of people at a time with one bomb, let alone children. But as long as it wasn't millions, Bill says it is OK."

Right, that's exactly what I said. You are truly such a knucklehead that you need a Moe to slap some sense into you before you show some comprehension.

As for you Tex. No, no and no. First off Vietnam was started by the Democrats, 2nd there is no evidence that the Vietnamese were ever planning of sueing for peace short of the unification of Vietnam under the Hanoi's leadership. I'm curious how it was the protestors and the media's fault. Maybye there were so many protestors because we were losing in war that we really shoudn't have been in the first place? If everyone stayed home and and the media was state controlled we could of won? Let me hear your revionist history?

The only coherent book that tried to prove we could have won basicly argued that if Vietnamization had been tried earlier, the south could have held out longer. Of course that still meant withdrawing most of our troops so I'm sure you reject that as "pro-commie".

On IRaq. If we withdraw with Iraqis start swimming over to get us. You know there weren't any Al-Qaeda people in Iraq before this war, but most insurgents are part of Shite or Sunni militas that will start going after each other(they already are) once we are gone.

Sgt Taylor B's mom

Well Bill, so far not one thing you have said is even worth TRYING to comprehend....

texasdillo

Hey Bill,
Let's try this again without the politics. Our Soldiers volunteer to serve. They go where they are told to. I thank you for sending care packages to your cousin. This is Major Pain's website so I will not speak for him or any poster here. We are a family here. We are about supporting our kids, family members, and friends in harm's way. Most of the time we do not address the politics of war. Instead We try to concentrate on supporting our troops and each other. We do a lot of good. Most of us are middle class working stiffs or Military. We do not like to be side tracked by post that take away from our common interest. Major Pain has provided information that many of us can't find anywhere else. He has been our lifeline to our loved ones at war. CNN and even Fox do not tell the story we hear from our troops. We love our Major. And our troops. We get riled when people talk about defacing our war memorials or spit on a disabled vet. So for the sake of common decency, I ask you to move on to other boards that enjoy political debate. If you wish to support the troops and not the war, then please go to anysoldier.com and donate to our troops. Ask your friends to do the same. Most of us have enough stress waiting for 2 spiffy Marines to knock on our door. Please go away.

Pay no attention to Bill. He's a moron.

Maj, I wish I'd known you were there. I would have shook your hand and introduced you to my friend, John, a former Marine. I was proud to stand with my veteran brothers and show the commie bastards that not all Americans have lost their minds.

This was just the beginning. There will be more Gatherings of Eagles. You can count on that.

WAR IS AN UGLY THING, BUT NOT THE UGLIEST OF THINGS. THE DECAYED AND DEGRADED SENSE OF MORAL AND PATRIOTIC FEELING WHICH ONE THINKS NOTHING IS WORTH WAR IS MUCH WORSE. THE MAN WHO HAS NOTHING FOR WHICH HE IS WILLING TO FIGHT, NOTHING MORE IMPORTANT THAN HIS OWN PERSONAL SAFETY IS A MISERABLE CREATURE WHO WILL NEVER BE FREE UNLESS MADE AND KEPT SO BY THE EXERTIONS OF BETTER MEN THAN HIMSELF. -JOHN STUART MILL

Were the demonstrators going to deface the Wall?

For the huge majority, and the demonstration's leaders, almost certainly not -- the Left has learned some smarter tactics since Vietnam, and many of them are now pretending to be pro-soldier, which means, making the military ineffective by trying to bring it within the crybaby, victim culture they cultivate for everyone else.

However, it is notable that when the crazier elements at an anti-war gathering do something like burn the flag, the others do not intervene.

They don't like the flag much, as a senior editor of the Nation magazine admitted after 9/11.

I think the real "threat" to the Wall from the Left, was that they would go there in large numbers,"take over" the area, and symbolically incorporate it into their protest, to try to strengthen the "Vietnam = Iraq" equation with a powerful image linking the Wall to Iraq withdrawal.

As for whether Vietnam could have been won. Bill says there is only one coherent book that tries to prove this. Not so. If anyone wants a reading list on this I will be happy to supply one.

It is a debatable question, but the really interesting question is: if we could have won it, should we have?

The real difference between liberals and conservatives is that even if Vietnam could have been won, liberals and the Left would have been against winning anyway.

From the point of view of the Left, the right side won in Vietnam.

I appreciate your respectful tone and if the point of this site is to just support the troops as opposed to supporting George Bush and neo-con foreign policy thats fine and this is my last post. But "Gathering of Eagles" was very far from being "non-political" as are those on list who thing the John Murthas are nothing but traitors. In opinion you can be for this war and support the troops and you can be against this war and still support the troops. You can also support this war and not give a rats ass abotu those fighting it.

Thank goodness Bill has left us for greener pastures. Somehow I even doubt he has a cousin.

Regarding the Vietnam War, before Pres. Johnson, another pres. from texas, lied about the Gulf of Tonkin attack, we only had a few hundred men in S. Vietnam to train the army.Pres. Nixon started the heavy bombing, but we couldn't bomb Haiphong harbor, because Russian ships were there, bringing war supplies of course. But we trained the S. Vietnamese army for 10 or 12 years, left them with helicopter gunships and other weapons. And THEY still lost the war, WE DIDN'T!! Johnson should never had gotten us into that war, But Pres. Nixon should have let us invade N. Vietnam, and let us bomb the hell out of those Russian ships. Unfortunately we're fighting this Iraqi war the same way, fight in one city and drive them out, then go to another city and do the same thing. Then leave and go some where else and do the same thing, and the insurgents keep moving around ahead of us.And like the new General says, we can not have a military victory there.

Whether educated or not, Americans generaly have a serious problem with honesty. Do you not think it was shady for the Bush Administration to allow the American public to think the war in Iraq was about terrorism? It is obvious that the United States has oil interests in Iraq, especially since its allies depend on oil exports from the Middle East. Although I cannot speak for our "highly esteemed" leaders, I can express that it was pretty smart to use the state of confussion after 911 to make the United State's top priority military spending. Whether United States involvement in war can be validated or not, the truth is that the United States economy is dependant on war. If the war were to end now, the question would be which country will be next?
-Also, something to ponder:
why did the US not place trade restrictions on Iraq like it is doing with North Korea?
It's working with North Korea so far, so why not?

If you want to buy real estate, you would have to get the mortgage loans. Moreover, my sister commonly utilizes a short term loan, which supposes to be the most reliable.
