Thanks CT Annie!

Maj. Pain~

I read this maybe a year or so ago when I read the "Tribes" post over at Eject!Eject!Eject! I took a writing class this past summer as part of my degree requirements. Something someone else wrote pissed me off and prompted me to write a piece that partly drew off reading LTC(RET) Dave Grossman's essay. For those that are interested in reading what I wrote that I called "Sheepdogs" at http://miss-ladybug.blogspot.com/2006/06/sheepdogs.html.

Sheep or Sheep Dog, you can't live forever.

GunnNutt

Excellent post, Maj P!!!

Like Miss Ladybug, I was taken with the theme "Sheep, Wolf, or Sheepdog" while reading the Whittler. Ever since, I have kept this quote on top of my blogs:

"I am not a wolf. I have never harmed a person in my life. But I am not a sheep, either. I know these forces are out there, and wishing it were not so will not only not make them go away – it will rob me of my chance to kick their ass when they show up."

WOOF!!!

Clayton, do the wolves live forever? Why'dja leave them out?

Speaking of dying, I know I am not the only one, but I have been close enough to reach out and touch the face of God. It is not scary it is extreemly comforting and warm.

Everyone dies someday. That is a given. It matters not so much how we die. It does matter how we live.

Life has more meaning when you live it for others.

Laura, Marine mom from Ohio

I used to be a sheep. When I became a mother I became the sheepdog. I have since passed the torch to my sons. We will protect each other and our family. Thank you my sons. Thank you mighty Marines for protecting us.

HOOO RAAAH FOR JIM B,YOU GOT IT RIGHT.LIVE EVERY DAY AS IF IT WERE YOUR LAST, SOME DAY YOU WILL BE RIGHT. I SWEAR I MET GOD AND WOKE UP AND ASKED WHERE IS HE? THE NAVY CORPS MAN WAS PUZZLED, IT MUST HAVE BEEN HIM THAT WAS GOD. I'M NOT AFFAID OF DYING, JUST LIVING TO HARD AND FAST, BUT HAVE FUN WHILE YOU CAN..YOU ONLY LIVE ONCE,BUT IF YOU DO IT MY WAY, ONCE IS ENOUGH,

Cathy

I also never thought I would say this, but I am a very proud mom of one mighty fine and hard core sheep dog!
