COURAGE

   

To take the initial step forward, go where others don’t want to go, bravely fight battles and win. Conduct combat operations for days on end then turn and carry out humanitarian care and emergency help to foreign and domestic soil.

Faced with adversity or fear, you continue on and complete the things you thought you couldn’t do.  As Marines, many join our gun club to be apart of something special and to be challenged. Its something deep inside that may only rise under the worse circumstances but only you can choose to use it.

COURAGE is the mental, moral and physical strength ingrained in Marines. Courage is the ability to do the right thing, in the right way, for the right reasons. It carries Marines through the challenges of combat and aids them in overcoming fear. It is the inner strength that enables a Marine to do what is right; to adhere to a higher standard of personal conduct; to lead by example; and to make tough decisions under stress and pressure.

To take the first step and decide to be one of us it requires courage and strength. They want the honor to be called a Marine, and we make them earn it.

Theodore Roosevelt:

It is not the critic who counts, not the man who points out how the strong man stumbled, or where the doer of deeds could have done better. The credit belongs to the man who is actually in the arena, whose face is marred by dust and sweat and blood, who strives valiantly, who errs and comes short again and again, who knows the great enthusiasms, the great devotions, and spends himself in a worthy cause, who at best knows achievement and who at the worst if he fails at least fails while daring greatly so that his place shall never be with those cold and timid souls who know neither victory nor defeat.
