Are you tired of hearing the media badger the military? Do you want to send a message to all of the service members fighting the war on terrorism? We are planning to purchase a full page ad in a major paper to support our troops before July 4th. I’m open for slogans so if you’re tired of blow hearts bad mouthing your Marines, people accusing before being tried, then do something about it. Otherwise you have no room to talk. If you support this idea, let me know in the comments. Give your recommendations for a slogan, newspaper to submit it in and just how you feel. If we get enough support, I’ll make it happen.

Capt. Got a problem. I don't have a paypal and I'm trying to do a credit card transaction. The system won't let me put AD after my name because when I check out it wants my name just as it shows on my credit card.
Want to do the paper ads, but not the cigars. Love the troops, but do not support tobacco use in any way, shape or form. Went all DI on my Marine's backside when he came back from MCT with chew LOL.

I just added a new shipping address. Select gift address and you can put "We Support You Ad" in the name. I just used my home address for the rest of the information.

How about in addition to saying thanks we remind people what they don't hear about in the MSM? All the good things that have been done to help the Iraqi people. As in how many schools opened, hospitals, bridges and other infrastructure built, how many lives liberated due to the tireless work of our military.
Fill in these blanks:
Time to remind Americans of the good things our Marines and sister services have accomplished in Iraq and Afghanistan.
___ million Iraqis liberated from the clutches of a ruthless dictator
___ millions of Afghanis freed from the brutality of the Taliban

PayPal seems to be having difficulties right now. I will keep trying.
As much as it galls me for any of those newspapers to receive revenue from me, I'll gladly compromise in this situation because our Marines have earned the acknowledgement and appreciation.
Let's hope enough money is raised to place an ad in more than one paper!
At the moment I can't think of a slogan that beats those already offered, but I'll work on that.

Just a suggestion for spreading the word about this effort...
Contact your local chapters of Aux, or VFW, AmVets, etc.
And your congressmen and women..and ask them for their support to help say thanks!

As for newspapers, I would go with a major one like the one that recently did that black and white illustration of the Eagle Globe & Anchor with the words United States Massacre Cover Up.
We're going to promote your effort to get a full page ad both @ eMOM and our Operation Enduring Freedom Support group. Hope you will see the $ rise to help the cause.

I'll be making a contribution. My thoughts on the ad:
Don't put references to specific troop support organizations because I would rather it look completly grass roots, and also some worthy organizations (for instance Fisher House) would likely get left off in favor of the blog community's favorites (like Soldiers Angels).
Rather than slogans or quotes, how about something simple like:
We are common everyday Americans. Unlike politicans and celebrities, we do not have free and unlimited access to media outlets. We have pooled our resources to make this public statement in support of our military troops and their efforts around the world.
Then just list all the names.
As far as which papers, I would suggest Wash Post. With so many military people living near DC, there may be a chance for a lot of them to see it and send it or word of it to their friends around the world. Also, there would be a chance of the cable news channels talking about it.

I am no longer with any military organization. I have burnt all ribbons, metals, any paperwork associated with my ever being in the US Military. This government has no respect for the servicemen and have used the military for their own selfish gains. Would I do it again? What I know now, absolutely "no!" Roland Millar

This is so funny! We were just talking about this at a lttlie league baseball game. ( Northeast Ohio.) We (4 different people) were commenting on how many chipmunks are around. I have at least 7 regulars this year and normally we have only one or two.
